Increase Your Adsense CPC and CTR 200% or More With the Competitive Ad Filter

by moneytize on November 27, 2010

I know a lot of you guys use Adsense as your main form of income. Adsense is used by a lot of website owners as their primary or alternative forms of income.

Adsense is a service owned by Google that allows webmasters to get paid each time a visitor clicks on one of their partnered ad links. A lot of micro niche keywords will pay out between $0.25 and $1.50 per click in my experience, but do not be fooled! Not all advertising links are created equal! By this I mean some advertisers will pay you $0.08 for a click while others will pay $0.75 for the same exact competing advertiser keyword.

How do We Ensure We Have the Highest Chance of Increasing Our Adsense CPC?

There are two primary things that come into my mind. First of all, you want to set up your Adsense “Competitive Ad Filter“. The Competitive Ad Filter allows you to not allow certain advertisers to display their ads on your website. We want to do this because certain advertisers are notorious for paying low for certain keywords. We want the highest payment per click so let’s completely block these low-balling cheapskates!

What you are going to want to do in (the old) Google Adsense is go into the “Adsense Setup” tab. From there, you will see the “Competitive Ad Filter” option along the blue header bar. Click on that and in the text field, copy + paste this list and click the save button.

This list will block out a lot of known low paying advertisers. Feel free to add or remove websites off the list as advertisers constantly change their marketing budget, but this list is great to start out with.

Making Sure Your Ads Have Relevancy

One other quick tip you can use for increasing your CTR is something you should be doing when doing keyword research. Go to SpyFu and type in your keyword. You will notice how many advertisers there are for that specific keyword. Obviously, when the more advertisers compete, the better it is for you. You not only get more money for the advertisers to appear on your site, but you also get assured that you will have multiple relevant ads displayed on your site. I like to make sure there are 6+ advertisers though a little less is OK and a little more is great!

I would like to hear if you know of any other ways for getting your conversion rate and CPC up. Post your ideas in the comments section below!

Thanks for the cheapskates list. I had not seen that before.

My tip is to use the Adsense section targeting HTML tags to hi-light the most relevant sections of your content so that Google serves ads based on that content only. I have a site that is about learning Spanish and I don’t want Google to pay attention to the Spanish example text, as all of my readers should be English speakers.

that is a pretty cool tip! thanks for sharing!

it is really cool how a few minor changes can really change the way ads are presented to the customer resulting in much higher conversions. doesn’t take much to compound profits

Great blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?

A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really
make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your theme.
Kudos

Although there are many other bland foods that can
combat an upset stomach, crackers are cheap and portable and can be tucked away in your office desk or nightstand.

Kaldereta originally was a Spanish recipe and adapted it with Filipino taste, it
is a product of their 300 year of occupation in the Philippines, and aside from their influences on Filipino cuisine they also influenced us by making Philippines as the only Catholic country in Asia.
So, why bother reaching for that over the counter drug
store migraine medicine during the start of a migraine headache when you no it wont do what you need it
too.

Several European countries have either banned hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils or have set future dates for elimination of their use in foods.

You will see a dramatic improvement within a matter of days and improve you overall
health at the same time. It doesn’t cost a lot of money and can be used for a wide variety of health and beauty reasons.

Some people prefer taking weight loss tea, appetite suppressant, or fat binder products.
There is no guideline provided as to what you can and cannot eat
for lunch, dinner, and snacks. For lunch enjoy 3 more
bananas and for a mid lunch snack have one more banana.
